XUT Leaders Engage with Students for Growth and Development

Since December, XUT leaders have been actively engaging with students across the campus to understand their thoughts, studies, and daily lives, while fostering their growth and success. Leaders visited classrooms, “one-stop” community, student dormitories, canteens, and sports arenas, participating in student activities and holding discussions with faculty and students.

At the “One-Stop” Community, Secretary Liu Yang participated in the “Longhu Heart Voice” event, where he held face-to-face talks with student representatives. During the session, Secretary Liu delivered a lecture titled “Twenty Years of Youth, Chasing Dreams for the Future,” reflecting on XUT's 20 years of undergraduate education and encouraging students to grow alongside the university in their pursuit of the Chinese Dream. The “Longhu Heart Voice” is part of the university's efforts to implement the “New Era Talents Cultivation Project,” offering a platform for community-based educational activities.


In dormitory No. 1, the School of Design’s “Embrace National Trends” event showcased traditional crafts like paper cutting, rubbings, foil painting, and 3D-printed cultural figures, blending traditional culture with modern technology. Secretary Liu participated in these activities, praising students’ creativity and urging them to continue promoting cultural heritage while embracing modern innovations.

At the “59 Workshop” food street, President Zhang Nong and Vice President Wang Fengbo visited the food stall business of Zhang Linbo, a student from the School of Physics and New Energy. They praised his entrepreneurial spirit and encouraged him to enhance his business using digital technologies to expand beyond the campus. The leaders also shared lunch with students, discussing campus life and responding to their concerns.

XUT first Sports Culture Festival, attended by President Zhang Nong, Vice Secretary Li Subei, and Vice President Wang Fengbo, kicked off with dragon and lion dances. The festival lasted three days, featuring various sports such as basketball, football, running, and tug-of-war, etc.

At the School of Business, President Zhang Nong attended a “Face-to-Face with the President” event, where faculty and students shared their achievements in teaching, research, and personal growth. He also observed a live e-commerce session in the School’s live-streaming studio.

In the “Jidian Community” and the “One-Stop” Service Hall of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Vice Secretary Li Subei reviewed the community's development and layout, affirming its positive impact on student life.

Vice Secretary Li Subei also participated in an exhibition at the School of Food and Biological Engineering, where students presented their innovative research projects, such as baking and brewing products. Leaders had an in-depth discussion with students, encouraging them to carry out further research and promote their research products to the market.

Vice Secretary Li also visited the School of Information Engineering, where he guided the development of the “IT Light” youth community and delivered a lecture on “The Responsibilities and Commitments of New Era Youth.” He emphasized the need for communities to offer personalized, diverse educational support to students.

Vice President Wang Fengbo attended the “Planning for the Future, Achieving Dreams” career seminar at the School of Electrical and Control Engineering. Professor Wang Gang, a senior engineer from Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co., Ltd. (XCMG, the 3rd largest construction machinery company in the world), discussed career planning, industry trends, and skill requirements with students. He shared insights on how to plan studies and future careers and introduced XCMG’s products and job skills. After the lecture, he held an interactive Q&A session with students.

Vice President Wang Fengbo attended the “Warm Winter, Warm Hearts” event organized by the School of Management Engineering, where students received winter clothing and shared their experiences. Wang highlighted that the event provides both material and spiritual support, encouraging students to feel society’s warmth. He urged them to set goals, build character, value education, plan careers, and overcome challenges to become responsible, knowledgeable, and virtuous individuals.

At the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Vice President Huang Chuanhui attended the “Heartfelt Communication, Talking about Growth” student seminar. He urged students to seize opportunities for comprehensive development, establish a positive worldview, strengthen their academic foundations, and improve their practical skills to enhance employability. He also encouraged students to pursue truth, cultivate problem-solving abilities, and embrace their responsibility to contribute to the nation’s revival.

Vice President Tan Wenyi attended the “Chasing Dreams, Warm Support” event at the School of Finance, which combined sports and stress relief activities for students preparing for postgraduate exams. The event featured fun competitions to help students relax and stay positive. Tan distributed care packages, encouraged students to balance study and rest, and wished them success in their academic and professional futures.

These activities reflect the university leadership's deep commitment to student development, creating an environment where students are encouraged to grow academically, personally, and professionally.
