On September 22, XUT held its opening ceremony for the 2024 freshmen, attended by university leaders, including Liu Yang, Zhang Nong, Li Subei, Cao Jie, Huang Chuanhui, Tu Baojun, Li Ling, and Zhang Zhongqiang, along with faculty, new students and their counselors. The ceremony was hosted by Vice President Wang Fengbo.
The event began with a military training performance, showcasing the disciplined spirit of the new students. Following this, the ceremony commenced with the national anthem and the raising of the national flag.
President Zhang Nong delivered an inspirational speech titled “Encountering Dreams,” outlining three expectations for the new students: pursue ideals with determination, strive for authenticity and innovation, and embrace joyful learning for personal growth. He encouraged them to create meaningful memories during their time at the university.
During the ceremony, leaders presented school badges to new student representatives, symbolizing their official membership and responsibility to uphold the university's spirit. The event concluded with a chorus of the XUT song, “Let Dreams Fly.”
Afterwards, President Zhang and Vice President Wang joined the students for a welcome arts performance, featuring songs, dances, and traditional performances, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.
