On June 19, the Graduation Ceremony and Bachelor’s Degree Awarding Ceremony for the Class of 2024 was held at the Student Theater of XUT. The ceremony was attended by XUT leaders including Liu Yang, Zhang Nong, Cao Jie, Jiang Hui, Wang Fengbo, Huang Chuanhui, Tan Wenyi, Wan Chuanpeng, Tu Baojun, Li Ling, as well as all members of the University Degree Evaluation Committee (DEC). Graduating students of the Class of 2024, heads of every academic school, advisors, teacher representatives, parents of graduating students, and alumni representatives participated in the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Cao Jie, Vice Chairman of the DEC.
At 8:30 AM, accompanied by the solemn national anthem, the ceremony officially commenced. Professor Zhang Nong, President of XUT, Chairman of the DEC, delivered a speech. He highly praised the resilience, pursuit of truth, and profound contributions of the graduating class, thanking them for their dedication during challenging times and for their contributions to campus life. President Zhang pointed out that amidst China’s comprehensive drive towards modernization and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, students should pass history’s baton with a more proactive stance, combining personal endeavors with the mission of the times to strive for a better future. He concluded with three key words for the graduates—responsibility, compassion, happiness—and encouraged them to take on challenges bravely, stand tall and always face the sun, lead successful careers; to approach life with compassion and integrity; and to pursue a fulfilling life with passion and grace.
Wang Fengbo, Vice President of XUT and Vice Chairman of the DEC, read out the commendation decisions for outstanding graduates of Jiangsu Province, outstanding graduates of XUT, and exemplary graduates of the Class of 2024. XUT leaders presented honor certificates to the recognized students. Tan Wenyi, Vice President of XUT and Vice Chairman of the DEC, announced the decision of the DEC to award Bachelor’s degrees to 6,088 graduates of the Class of 2024.
Yu Yang, teacher representative from School of Civil Engineering, expressed joy and pride in witnessing the growth of students. Wu Chao, an outstanding alumni representative from the Class of 2010 in the Faculty of Information Engineering, shared his entrepreneurial journey and the challenges he overcame. Wang Xiaonan, graduate representative from School of Physics and New Energy, expressed sincere gratitude and blessings to the alma mater.
Finally, amid cheerful music and enthusiastic applause, all university leaders and members of the DEC awarded degrees and certificates to representatives of the Class of 2024 and performed the tassel-turning ceremony.
