XUT has made Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools with universities worldwide since 2006, including Jeonbuk National University (South Korea) in Food Engineering and Tourism Management (2+1), Industrial Design, Korean and Arts Design (3+1), Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Saint-Etienne (France) in International Economics and Trade (3+1), Auckland Institute of Studies (New Zealand) in Marketing and Information Management and Systems (3+1), and Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University (Russia) in Electrical Engineering and Automation and Mechatronics Engineering (3+1), Electronic Science and Technology, Robotics Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering (4+0). More than 2,000 students graduated from these programs. XUT has become an advanced unit of Jiangsu high-level demonstrative project of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools.
It has been 16 years since XUT embarked on the Chinese-foreign cooperation with Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University (ETU). The two universities have made impressive achievements with a number of cooperation in teaching, scientific research, talent training and faculty performance improvement. In 2009, the two sides held an experimental class of international courses in Electrical Engineering and Automation. The two undergraduate programs Electrical Engineering and Automation and Mechatronic Engineering were approved and evaluated by the Ministry of Education in 2014. In 2020, Electrical Engineering and Automation was approved as a national first-class undergraduate major, and Mechatronic Engineering was approved as a Jiangsu provincial key major. We have cultivated 1,083 students who have an excellent grasp of Russian and engineering. Among them, 312 have studied in Russia, 63% of whom continued to study for master degrees there. Many students have won Russian government scholarships. 6 professional teachers from XUT go to the Russian universities for research and studies every year, which improves their teaching ability and international level. XUT and ETU have set up a joint school- Xuzhou Institute of Technology-Saint Petersburg Joint Engineering School, which was formally approved by Ministry of Education in 2023. There are four undergraduate majors in the school.
