On September 14, XUT held a seminar and academic report on the application of NNSFC and NSSFC projects in the lecture hall of Run Run Shaw Library as a way to better apply this year's projects. XUT President Zhang Nong made a report entitled My Scientific Research Work Experiences and Thinking, and Vice President Jiang Hui made a report on Analysis of the Application and Approval of National Foundation Projects. Over 200 people, including deans of schools, vice deans in charge of scientific research, young backbone teachers and scientific research managers, attended the lecture, which was chaired by Jiang Hui.
President Zhang shared his own scientific research experiences, his thoughts on scientific and technological innovation and scientific research management with the attenders at the meeting, pointed out that it is pivotal for both XUT and its employees to seize opportunities, make overall plans with high standards in scientific research. He also encouraged young teachers to maintain excellence, study research trend, be benevolent, and serve the country, to set sights on the global frontiers of disciplines, to base themselves on the major strategic needs of the country and region with a solid base of knowledge, a broad vision, tenacity and solid steps. It is proposed that in the process of establishing a high-level applied university, XUT must further promote scientific research, strengthen talent introduction and cultivation at the same time, deepen system reform, highlight characteristics of disciplines, and improve the scientific research conditions so as to provide a good academic environment for promoting the development of XUT and its scientific research on all fronts.
Vice President Jiang made an in-depth analysis of the overall situation, existing problems and solutions of national foundation projects in recent years in the report, put forward the requirements of strengthening the foundation, cultivating characteristics, analyzing accurately, and implementing sound policies for departments and schools and asked them to promote related work. At the same time, they need to focus on the future development of the XUT scientific research and discuss its reform and key points.
